Soap Dispenser used as decoy in robbery

Police are urging women in Leicester to be extra vigilant after a number of purse thefts in the city centre. It is believed three women are working together in order to distract ladies using changing room and washroom facilities.

Images captured by CCTV have indentified the women the police are looking for, however they have yet to be able to trace the three suspects.

The methods of distraction have varied. During one theft, a lady was asked how the soap dispenser worked, while her purse was stolen. In a separate robbery, two people followed the victim into a changing room while she was distracted and robbed.

Pc Matt Linnell said: “We believe that these incidents may be linked and would urge anyone who recognises the people in the images to contact us.

All the victims of these crimes have been elderly women. It is important that people take extra care around Leicester. Do not leave bags or other valuables unattended when using toilets, sinks or hand dryers.
